Home remedies to get rid of Athlete’s foot
The athlete’s foot is a skin problem that can be addressed with medications, but home remedies are the way to go since they hardly have any complications and side effects. First of all, you must know what an Athlete’s foot is and how is it actually caused. It is a fungal infection that requires a moist environment to appear and grow. This is the reason why it is found usually in the foot and mostly in between the toes since slippers and shoes are something we wear almost throughout the day leading to sweat. Using Garlic effectively: Various studies have shown the efficacy of garlic to fight against bacterial and fungal problems. Apply the crushed garlic cloves to the affected areas and repeat the process 2-3 times a week to get relief.
- Neem Oil: This has been the most used home remedy for almost all the diseases in India. Its supreme anti-fungal qualities make for a great medication of athlete’s foot. Apply the neem leaf extracts or the oil itself directly to the affected area 3-4 times a day with a gentle massage. It is really effective and must be used actively for quick relief.
- Talcum Powder: This is used to make the affected area dry up and make it difficult for the fungi to survive. Direct application over the affected area helps in providing immediate relief.
- Tea tree oil: The tea tree is famous for its antifungal properties and is found mainly in Australia. Many studies have suggested that tea tree oil is more effective in treating fungal diseases than many other well-known medications. It is best to use twice or thrice a day for good relief.
- Hairdryer: It has a simple job to deliver, and that is to dry up the affected area and make it impossible for the fungi to survive.
- Alcohol application: Humans may be in love with this, but alcohol isn’t a tasty drink for the Fungi since they get killed after having a drink or two. Direct application is the way to go here as well.
- Seal salt: Another treatment has a sea salt bath which has got a plethora of anti-fungal properties and can help you immensely in getting rid of athlete’s foot.
- Applying Baking soda: Sodium bicarbonate has shown to have many antifungal properties when applied to the skin. A half-cup of baking soda in a bucket of water is enough to be applied to the affected area. One precaution to be taken is not to rinse the foot while drying it.
Other easy solutions may include washing your sock with baking soda, washing and drying your shoes in the sun on a regular basis. You can also try to keep your foot dry for as long as possible. Athlete’s foot is not a difficult problem to overcome if one has patience and is regular with the methods of overcoming it.
